Are the health problems that last over less than 2 weeks and affect child's normal activities. Majority of these illnesses are of infective origin and some of them might be self-limiting.
Some of the common acute pediatric illnesses are:
COUGH due to URI, Pneumonia, bronchiolitis, asthma, sinusitis
FEVER due to bacteremia, UTI, viral illness, viral exanthems (Varicella, measles), roseola, and scarlet fever.
Sore throat due to pharyngitis, scarlet fever, mononucleosis
Otitis or ear pain
URI can be due to conjunctivitis, cellulitis, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis
Abdominal pain due to appendicitis, Pyelonephritis, gastroenteritis, constipation, PID, and colic pain.
Vomiting due to gastroesophageal reflux, pyloric stenosis, gastroenteritis
Diarrhea / vomiting like gastroenteritis, viral, bacterial, and giardia
